Mammon

Carol Cook

I have seen Mammon being openly worshiped by thousands of people. They stand in front of churches and say with hands uplifted "Money cometh to me" The english translation of "Mammon cometh to me". HUNDREDS perhaps THOUSANDS of people who have been called into the ministry have come here to learn the word and have been captured by this entity because of the lusts of their flesh, the deceitfulness of riches, the lust of other things, greed, covetness, manipulation, false weights and balances that are passing for good Christian business practices. These people are so caught up in debt that they can't afford to go preach the gospel.

I've seen prophetic/apostolic meetings that people have gone to, that the people have been lifted into the spirit by prophetic praise and worship and then someone stands up to get money by bragging about how their church people play the lottery and then tithe the winnings to magnify the Lord's blessing and increase of the church. The Holy Spirit was so grieved that the speaker could not pick up the annointing for what God wanted to do there. He had to do a song and dance because once again Mammon took over the throne.

The towers were idol shrines to Mammon and the church allowed it to be so; even encouraged it. The kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdoms of our Lord. This will not be done by human warfare. The church of Jesus Christ and Israel are the only soldiers that are supposed to prevail eventually. I love America as do many but our homeland and our nation is not of this world.

And America is not to blame in this war. They should not have to fight it alone. This is the church's battle. It is her fault that the hedge was down. Furthermore; we have weapons of warfare that they do not have. Where are our intercessors that will cry out "Who is that uncircumcised Philistine"?

Let's put so much pressure on the enemy forces that our God will bring bin Laden out into the open so that Americans do not have to expend any more of their children's blood. We have weapons of binding and loosing and people that know how to use them.

In Luke 13 Jesus talked of another tower that fell in His day. He told His people that If they did not repent they would all likewise perish. Then He directly told of the Fig tree that did not have the proper fruit on it. The vinedressers begged for another year to dig around it and put dung around it. He was speaking to us in this day. It is time for the 5 fold to look to the fruits of the tree they are tending.

Are their flocks producing new converts? Are the ministries that are within their people being frustrated, or even killed off by getting their eyes on the earthly things instead of the heavenly things? Have they lost their first love because their hearts have become so hardened that they can not even feel the infirmity of the lost and the poor?

Are they visiting when sick or in prison, clothing, or feeding the Lord that they claim to love or just building shrines in His name but not in His likeness? When people come to church do they actually meet Jesus and learn to have true communion with Him or do they learn how to apply principles of the word that meet their needs thereby being introduced to the selfish religion of Mammon?

There will be many who will say America is being punished by God for abortion, homosexuality, pornography whatever sin is the speakers current hobby horse. These things are all abominations to our God there is no doubt. I say that our Father in His infinite mercy has long endured our cold hearts and idolatry and that we have not had the fruit that would have kept the hedge of God's protection around our nation so that not only the enemy attacks could get through and harm innocent people but even worse, sin could prevail within our own borders sending many into an eternity of hell.

If we are truly a Christian nation then it is time to show the fruits of it. If we are truly the church of the Lord Jesus Christ then it is time to show the fruits of that. It is a time for unity and a time for the apostles to bring that unity. It is time for the prophets to speak forth in truth a message that brings forth true repentance and heart holiness to a world and nation who are perishing and to a church who is rich on the outside but pitiable, poor, blind, and naked within.

Let's counsel the church to buy gold refined in the fire from Jesus. I say come forth Prophets of God and speak the message that no one wants to hear whether they will listen or not. This is not a time to prophesy peace, peace when there is no peace or to sew pillows into peoples armholes. This is war.

When they say "Quiet, cease holding up before us the Holy One of Israel," we need to get louder and more persistent. Sure we can lose our reputation. He made Himself of no reputation. Are we greater than our Lord? Will they dislike a message of repentance?

Who wouldn't, does that matter? This is a God given opportunity to preach the true gospel to a people who are looking for answers. JESUS is their answer and we have Him. Let the church get to know Him again and then go out and introduce Him to others.

How could He bring a revival {that we have all prayed for} into an idol shrine? But truly He will revive us again and this time He has ready a people who will speak forth His words not a false gospel.

How can this be said gently and with love? Isn't it love that speaks it forth because it's truth? Will it be accepted? Only by those that have ears to hear. Who is going to be first? Nobody wants to I am sure.

Thanks for giving me release from self condemnation from the Lord. I've been feeling really guilty for not speaking up but I couldn't pick up the regular anointing to write or prophesy.

(Intro) Dear Pam;
Thank you for this word of encouragement. I am an intercessor and am currently living in Tulsa. We moved down here 4 years ago and we have been grieving and praying for the church concerning the message that has been going out of her and the hardened hearts that the message she has been preaching have caused.

Yesterday I heard a lot of talk about "bombing Afghanistan back to the Stone Age." Ronn Owens, on KGO Talk Radio allowed that this would mean killing innocent people, people who had nothing to do with this atrocity, but "we're at war, we have to accept collateral damage," and he asked, "What else can we do? What is your suggestion?" Minutes later I heard a TV pundit discussing whether we "have the belly to do what must be done." And I thought about these issues especially hard because I am from Afghanistan, and even though I've lived here for 35 years I've never lost track of what's been going on over there. So I want to share a few thoughts with anyone who will listen.

I speak as one who hates the Taliban and Osama Bin Laden. There is no doubt in my mind that these people were responsible for the atrocity in New York. I fervently wish to see those monsters punished. But the Taliban and Ben Laden are not Afghanistan. They're not even the government of Afghanistan. The Taliban are a cult of ignorant psychotics who captured Afghanistan in 1997 and have been holding the country in bondage ever since. Bin Laden is a political criminal with a master plan. When you think Taliban, think Nazis. When you think Bin Laden, think Hitler. And when you think "the people of Afghanistan" think "the Jews in the concentration camps." It's not only that the Afghan people had nothing to do with this atrocity. They were the first victims of the perpetrators. They would love for someone to eliminate the Taliban and clear out the rats nest of international thugs holed up in their country. I guarantee it.

Some say, if that's the case, why don't the Afghans rise up and overthrow the Taliban themselves? The answer is, they're starved, exhausted, damaged, and incapacitated. A few years ago, the United Nations estimated that there are 500,000 disabled orphans in Afghanistan--a country with no economy, no food.

Millions of Afghans are widows of the approximately two million men killed during the war with the Soviets. And the Taliban has been executing these women for being women and have buried some of their opponents alive in mass graves. The soil of Afghanistan is littered with land mines and almost all the farms have been destroyed. The Afghan people have tried to overthrow the Taliban. They haven't been able to.

We come now to the question of bombing Afghanistan back to the Stone Age. Trouble with that scheme is, it's already been done. The Soviets took care of it. Make the Afghans suffer? They're already suffering. Level their houses? Done. Turn their schools into piles of rubble? Done. Eradicate their hospitals? Done. Destroy their infrastructure? There is no infrastructure. Cut them off from medicine and health care? Too late. Someone already did all that.

New bombs would only land in the rubble of earlier bombs. Would they at least get the Taliban? Not likely. In today's Afghanistan, only the Taliban eat, only they have the means to move around. They'd slip away and hide. (They have already, I hear.) Maybe the bombs would get some of those disabled orphans, they don't move too fast, they don't even have wheelchairs. But flying over Kabul and dropping bombs wouldn't really be a strike against the criminals who did this horrific thing. Actually it would be making common cause with the Taliban--by raping once again the people they've been raping all this time.

So what else can be done, then? Let me now speak with true fear and trembling. The only way to get Bin Laden is to go in there with ground troops. I think that when people speak of "having the belly to do what needs to be done" many of them are thinking in terms of having the belly to kill as many as needed. They are thinking about overcoming moral qualms about killing innocent people. But it's the belly to die not kill that's actually on the table. Americans will die in a land war to get Bin Laden. And not just because some Americans would die fighting their way through Afghanistan to Bin Laden's hideout. It's much bigger than that, folks. To get any troops to Afghanistan, we'd have to go through Pakistan. Would they let us? Not likely. The conquest of Pakistan would have to be first. Will other Muslim nations just stand by? You see where I'm going. The invasion approach is a flirtation with global war between Islam and the West.

And that is Bin Laden's program. That's exactly what he wants and why he did this thing. Read his speeches and statements. It's all right there. At the moment, of course, "Islam" as such does not exist. There are Muslims and there are Muslim countries, but no such political entity as Islam. Bin Laden believes that if he can get a war started, he can constitute this entity and he'd be running it. He really believes Islam would beat the west. It might seem ridiculous, but he figures if he can polarize the world into Islam and the West, he's got a billion soldiers. If the West wreaks a holocaust in Muslim lands, that's a billion people with nothing left to lose, even better from Bin Laden's point of view. He's probably wrong about winning, in the end the west would probably overcome--whatever that would mean in such a war; but the war would last for years and millions would die, not just theirs but ours. Who has the belly for that? Bin Laden, yes, but anyone else?

I don't have a solution. But I do believe that suffering and poverty are the soil in which terrorism grows. Bin Laden and his cohorts want to bait us into creating more such soil, so they and their kind can flourish. We can't let him do that. That's my humble opinion.

A Biblical Response To the Terrorist Attacks On America (for the purpose of prayer and evangelism)

By Dutch Sheets

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I WOULD ADVISE NOT EVEN USING THE TERM "JUDGMENT"--
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

As we all observe and mourn the results of the recent terrorist attacks on America, the response of the Body of Christ and the way in which we pray could very well determine whether our nation turns toward God or away from God. Sorrow can lead either to bitterness, which perpetuates greater defilement (see Heb. 12:15), or to repentance resulting in salvation (see 2 Cor. 7:10). Measured, accurate and biblical responses from those of us representing God are critical.

===========================================
HOW SHOULD WE DEFINE THE EVENTS?
--USE CAUTION WITH THE WORD "JUDGMENT"
===========================================

Great caution should be exercised in using the word "judgment" to define these events. Many Christians understand that America has been experiencing a degree of judgment for some time - sin has wages (see Rom. 6:23). But most biblical judgment is the inevitable, built-in consequence of sin, not the direct hand of God. He didn't pronounce curses after Adam and Eve's fall because He was an angry God who loves to curse sinners. He did so because of the inherent results of their actions. And He did it while covering their nakedness and promising redemption, a redemption involving great sacrificial love on His part - the incarnation and death of His Son (see Gen. 3:15).

======================================
FORFEITING GOD'S FAVOR AND PROTECTION
======================================

Also, rather than the direct hand of God, judgments are often simply the result of forfeiting God's favor and protection. Jonah 2:8 tells us: "Those who cling to worthless idols forfeit the grace that could be theirs."

A careful and compassionate explanation of reaping, or the consequences of sin and of turning from God, should be our definition of the events. I would advise not even using the term "judgment" because the world will probably not hear anything else we say. Other pertinent Scriptures that could be used to explain the fruit of sin and the forfeiting of God's protection are:

======================================
SCRIPTURES REGARDING THE FRUIT OF SIN
======================================

Psalm 127:1-2: "Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain. It is vain for you to rise up early, to retire late, to eat the bread of painful labors; for He gives to His beloved even in his sleep."

Proverbs 14:34: "Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people."

Proverbs 28:13: "He who conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will find compassion."

Isaiah 59:1-2: "Behold, the Lord's hand is not so short that it cannot save; neither is His ear so dull that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He does not hear."

Luke 13:34-35: "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones those sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, just as a hen gathers her brood under her wings, and you would not have it! Behold, your house is left to you desolate; and I say to you, you shall not see Me until the time comes when you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!'"

Luke 19:41-44: "And when He approached, He saw the city and wept over it, saying, "If you had known in this day, even you, the things which make for peace! But now they have been hidden from your eyes. For the days shall come upon you when your enemies will throw up a bank before you, and surround you, and hem you in on every side, and will level you to the ground and your children within you, and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not recognize the time of your visitation. "

============================
WHAT SHOULD BE OUR MESSAGE?
============================

Our message, therefore, must be one of carefully balanced grace and truth (see John 1:17). God's desire is always to forgive and redeem, not to destroy. Our gospel includes - in addition to the incarnation, death and resurrection of Jesus - two other very important messages: repentance from sin and grace to the repentant. Christ came for the sick, not the healthy; to seek and save the lost, not the found. "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son...For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through Him" (John 3:16-17).

================================================================
THE MESSAGE OF GRACE NEED NOT LEAVE OUT THE CONSEQUENCES OF SIN
================================================================

This message of grace need not leave out the consequences of sin, but as it is shared it must be laced with hope and with God's merciful heart. His desire is to turn us from our sin, not destroy us for it (see 2 Chron. 7:14). He is "slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness" (Ps. 86:15). At times He actually announced judgments through tears (see Luke 19:41-44), and the Scriptures are clear that He takes no pleasure in the judgment of the wicked (see Ezek. 18:23-32).

God forgave a harlot named Rahab, then gave her a prominent plan in Israel's history as the great-great-grandmother of King David and a part of the lineage leading to Christ. He was willing to spare Sodom; He did spare Nineveh when she repented. And on another occasion He unsuccessfully sought for an intercessor so He could spare Israel (see Ezek. 22:30-31).

So, yes, our message must call sinners to repentance - we cannot compromise truth - but God's heart of compassion, mercy and grace must fill the message with hope. "Return to Me and I will return to you" (Mal. 3:7) should be the heart of our message. The result of the returning will be healing and restoration.

==============================
WHAT SHOULD OUR ATTITUDE BE?
==============================

Rather than one of harshly announcing judgment, our attitude must be one of compassion and mourning. Like Jeremiah and Christ Himself, we must be able to explain the results of sin through heartfelt tears (see Lam. 1:16; 2:11; 3:48-49; Luke 19:41-44). Too often the world perceives our attitude toward the consequences of others' sins - whether the death of an abortionist or AIDS in a homosexual - as callous or even smug gladness. Satan is an expert at distorting the perception of Christ and the Church in the eyes of the world. We must be wiser than he and make certain the Christ we reveal - the One who loves sinners - is accurate.

WE MUST ALSO BE QUICK TO ACKNOWLEDGE OUR RESPONSIBILITY IN THE CONDITION OF AMERICA:

  • Some immature leaders, including prophets immature in their calling, have brought forth only harshness and condemnation in their attempts to call the nation to repentance. This turns the hearts of unbelievers away from God.

  • On the other hand, many pastors and caregivers have overemphasized mercy and grace, refusing to call individuals to biblical accountability.

  • The Church in America as a whole has preached a "what's in it for me" humanistic gospel, leaving out the message of taking up our cross and laying down our lives. This has produced great compromise and lukewarmness in the Body of Christ.

  • Many of us have failed to truly care for and minister to the poor and hurting, and in general have lacked genuine compassion.

  • We in the Church have decried materialism, greed and the love of money as a great part of the problem in America, while fewer than 20% of us even tithe, let alone give sacrificial offerings. Our hypocrisy contributes to the problem.

  • We have failed to pray as we should for government leaders and the lost.

We must acknowledge that judgment begins at our house (see 1 Pet. 4:17) and do our share of the repenting.

====================
HOW SHOULD WE PRAY?
====================

How can we pray effectively for the nation at this time?

  1. Repent for our (the Church's) role per the previous points. Pray that many in the Church see this need for humility and repentance.

  2. Pray that the Church is able to respond to this crisis with great wisdom - a proper blend of grace and truth - and that neither unwise messengers nor the enemy can distort God's heart.

  3. Ask for a turning of our nation back to God; that a revelation of our great need would penetrate the heart of our nation. Believe that God can do this.

  4. Ask for God's mercy to triumph over judgment (see James 2:13).

  5. Pray that President Bush and other government leaders move with great wisdom and make sound decisions. Pray that the President would be so visited by God that he would unashamedly and publicly repent, pray and call the nation back to God.

  6. Pray for comfort in our nation, but that it would be accompanied with a true recognition of our great spiritual need.

  7. Forgive those who have wronged us, yet pray for justice (not revenge) to evildoers. These two things - forgiveness and justice - are not contradictory (see Matt. 7:1; Luke 6:37; Rom. 13:4).

  8. Continue to pray for salvation to come to the Muslim world.

Warring from the Garden

Diane Bahler

This is a day of judgment. The Lord said to me that Satan has been cast out of the heavens because of the warfare prayers of the saints and has come to earth in great fury. It will seem to the world that his power is increasing but the opposite is true. He is losing power as he becomes more and more earth bound but this makes him more and more angry and violent. The walls of Jericho must fall. Babylon must burn. High places must be brought low. The enemy is being judged and expelled but he will wreck as much havoc as the authority we give him through our unbelief. Repentance will release God's mercy into our lives, our homes, cities and nations.

This is a day of testing. The Lord cautions us strongly NOT to look with our eyes or believe with our ears but to believe His WORD and His Spirit and to know HIS HEART. Many will blame God for this tragedy and that is blasphemy. It is our own hard hearts that have brought this upon us. We have become rebellious children with hard hearts and they must be broken to prevent a much worse tragedy - the loss of billions of souls to hell. God's mercy is in this event even though it is hard to understand. We are being tested to see who's report we will believe and whether we will cross over into His Promises.

This is a day of favor for the saints of God. This event was meant to be much worse by the enemy and would have been had the Lord not intervened because of the prayers of the saints that have gone up as covering for America. Today (9-12-01) the Lord showed me the skies FILLED with His angels. They have been sent to guard and protect and to war on our behalf. We have NOT been left alone. It is time for the warriors, the intercessory and prophetic army to arise and take the land. The Lord has committed His angelic troops to respond to the cry of the Warrior Bride. The God of Peace will soon crush Satan underneath her feet.

This is a day of awakening. This attack was a "wake up call". The angels are also sounding the trumpet of judgment. Satan is an instrument of judgment and this judgment has to come but God's mercy triumphs over judgment. We must be careful to not look at this event through earthly eyes but rather through the Father's heart. The loss of life in this event is breaking the heart of God but it had to happen to stop a much greater tragedy. America - and not just America - but the nations - are in danger of losing their soul and although the enemy meant this for evil God will use if for good. It is better to pluck out an eye or cut off an arm than to let the whole body be thrown into hell. It is painful but necessary. The kingdoms of this world must fall as the Kingdom of our Lord arises.

This is the day of the harvest. The Lord will avenge the blood of the innocent ones who lost their lives in this attack. Out of the blood of the martyrs will come a great harvest. These are seeds that had to fall to the ground in order to produce a harvest of souls that will be a hundred fold. The Lord will use this to shake America and the world and the church out of their complacency. Darkness covers the earth this day and will increase but the light of God's glory will also increase upon His Bride as she arises and shines with His light and life.

This is a day of birthing. The Bride is birthing the man-child. The waters of God's Spirit have broken and are beginning to flood the earth. The Head has been birthed. The Lord is also coming in the clouds like lightening and is manifesting His government and His Presence in the natural realm. The birth pains will increase until the shoulders (His government) and His body (the harvest of souls) have come forth from the womb of the earth. His Presence will increase until the whole earth sees Him in His fullness and recognizes Him as King. His glory breaks like the dawn and His light will increase until His glory covers the earth as the waters cover the sea.

This is a day of life. The enemy has released a flood of death and destruction to devour the Bride and the manifest Sons of God but the Lord is protecting them. They are hidden in the shelter of His great eagle wings and He is covering them with His love. He is opening up the earth to receive the flood from the devil and it will be used to water the seed of the martyrs. The devil will hang himself on his own gallows because the Lord will use this attack to bring forth a great harvest. He will bring life out of death. This is the day of resurrection power. A great earthquake has occurred but many will be released from their tombs and from the darkness.

This is the day of the vengeance of our God. Even now the Lord is releasing resurrection life into the earth in response to this attack. God's vengeance on death is to release life. The enemy is not America. It is the dragon. The dragon is making war against the offspring of God but the Lord is rising up in anger and vengeance and the whole earth will see Him come with retribution and vindication.

This is the day to live out of faith and not fear. Again, the Lord cautions to not look or believe with our natural minds. Believe the truth. This is the time for His people to keep their eyes firmly focused on Him. Things will continue to look worse and darker if we look with our natural minds. The whirlwind has been released and if we look into the storm we will be caught up in it. We have to look with our hearts and see the glory of God rise on the earth. If we stay in the center of His will and His truth we will rise up on the winds as eagles above the whirling storm clouds. Those who walk in the glory of the Lord will walk in increasing light and strength.

This is a day of separation and testing the fruit of each man. Again, I am hearing a strong caution from the Lord not to blaspheme God by blaming Him for evil. Those who blaspheme the Holy Spirit will find themselves without defense and the wrath of God WILL fall upon them even while He extends grace and mercy to those who trust in Him. There are many false apostles and prophets also arising in this hour. Just as God's sons and daughters are arising, Satan is working to establish his tares among the wheat. The Lord says you will know them by the FRUIT OF THEIR HEARTS. The TRUE will have the Father's HEART, which is always filled with mercy, compassion, grace, patience and hope. Test the HEART fruit because as the days become more evil it will become more difficult to tell the true from the false if the people look for outward fruit and many will be deceived. Jesus said that those who saw Him saw the Father. In this day the Lord says that those who know the Father will recognize the Son.

These are days of rejoicing as difficult as it is to believe. While others mourn God's remnant will rejoice. While others weep, His people will dance. It is a "homecoming dance" celebrating His return and the establishment of HIS Kingdom on the earth. The kingdom of the world is becoming the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ, and He will reign for ever and ever.

Going Upwind, So Stand Shoulder to Shoulder

Debbie Cossu

They shall run like mighty men; they shall climb the wall like men of war; and they shall march every one on his ways, and they shall not break their ranks: Neither shall one thrust another; they shall walk every one in his path: and when they fall upon the sword, they shall not be wounded. Joel 2:7

Love is the strongest power on earth. We must keep our hearts pure and have a ready answer for those around us. We must offer hope to those who have none. We must be the voice of comfort in this hour.

Strengthen the feeble hands, steady the knees that give way; say to those with fearful hearts, 'Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, He will come with vengeance; with divine retribution He will come to save you' Isaiah 35:3,4,5

Then will the eyes of the blind be opened, and the ears of the deaf unstopped."

OPEN YOUR EYES MY PEOPLE, AND YOU WILL HEAR MY VOICE ******** This is not to be a time of fear, but the time for faith to arise.

There is a unity that has begun in your land none alive have ever witnessed.

This battle must be fought on your knees, with your eyes wide open, and your heart taking that position as well.

The aerial attack made known in the natural has been occurring in the spirit for a long time.

Keep alert and vigil, keep sober in purpose and in love.

Have a ready answer of hope for those who have none. Many hearts who normally would be hardened and who have not believed My existence, are now crying out to know Me.

You are part of My army, and have been on alert since you first joined these ranks. It is time to take your positions. It is time to muster as one. Keep your hearts pure and walk in forgiveness and mercy. It is never flesh and blood you are to stand against.

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6

Stand in purity, understanding, patience and kindness; in the Holy Spirit and in sincere love; in truthful speech and in the power of God; with weapons of righteousness in the right hand and in the left. 2 Corinthians 6:6,7

You Are My Army

Marsha Burns

Behold the army of the Lord! You are My army, and My chosen people, I have had you in training for a long time. I have trained you by the circumstances in your own lives, and I have trained you by situations and circumstances in your families and in your cities. I have taught you to turn back the battle at the gate of your own soul, your own mind. But this was like "boot camp;" it was a training ground. I tell you now, you are up for promotion. I am promoting you not only to be warriors for your state, but also for your nation and even the whole world. I am teaching your hands to war on a higher level. I am calling out My reserves, even as the reserves will be called out in these United States. I have reserved more than 7,000 who have not bowed their knee to Baal, and there will be many who will join you in this warfare. Rise up in great courage, for I am about to show you the enemy. I will show you where he is. I will show you what he is thinking. I will show you exactly what is on his heart and on his mind, and you will rise up in My power. You will rise up and take the land, and you will turn back the battle at the gates of this nation.

A Teshuvah Prayer

Rich Elliott

Am not certain that everyone knows the time/season that we are in. On the Jewish calendar, this time of the year is known as Teshuvah. Teshuvah is the period of 40 days immediately preceding Yom Kippur [the day of atonement], which includes the 10 days of awe [the time from Rosh Hashanah to Yom Kippur]. Teshuvah is a time for repentance. Not from sin as we often think, but a time of returning to the Lord Himself. If, all we have is an experience some years ago, that represent our salvation, then we are sad folks indeed. Salvation is an ongoing relationship with God the Father and Jesus Christ who He sent. Real living is knowing them intimately, speaking with them daily, and serving them joyfully. During this season of repentance we find ourselves in, it is common to have a daily reading of a favorite Psalm of mine; Psalm 27, as well as Ezekiel 33:1-7 and Hosea 14:1-9.

I want to send this out, not just as a scripture, but as a united prayer. Particularly Psalm 27. That is where the emphasis must be. Allow the Word of the Lord to fill your heart, and mouth with this powerful prayer. A prayer for the Kingdom ... which includes us; individually, corporately, as cities and as nations. Our greatest need right now is that the Church seek that which is most important right now. We must know what the Lord would have us do, not just the latest religious rhetoric. Only the Lord can do that for us, as we really and truly seek Him and Him alone. God help us to repent of our religious ways and indeed enter into the Holy of Holies and gain audience with the King of heaven and of earth. The veil is torn. We have access. The power of the Cross is not just for entrance to heaven when we die, but is a gateway into the Kingdom for today.

Join me in praying this Psalm for the next several days, perhaps through the end of the month. I pray it will lead us all to more passion and purity in our relationship with Him.

The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the Lord. Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me. When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek. Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation. When my father and my mother forsake me, then the Lord will take me up. Teach me thy way, O Lord, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies. Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty. I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

Psalm 27

Again the word of the Lord came unto me, saying, Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman: If when he seeth the sword come upon the land, he blow the trumpet and warn the people: Then whosoever heareth the sound of the trumpet, and taketh not warning; if the sword come, and take him away, his blood shall be upon his own head. He heard the sound of the trumpet, and took not warning; his blood shall be upon him. But he that taketh warning shall deliver his soul. But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman's hand. So thou, O Son of man, I have set thee a watchman unto the house of Israel; therefore thou shalt hear the word at my mouth, and warn them from me.

Ezekiel 33:1-7

Theme of the Season of Teshuvah and the Prophetic Promise to Israel O Israel, return unto the Lord thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity. Take with you words, and turn to the Lord: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips. Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy. I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him. I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon. His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon. They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. Ephraim shall say, What have I to do with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found. Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? Prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the Lord are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

HEAVENLINESS - A DEFENCE SYSTEM OF A NATION
T. Austin-Sparks

Heavenliness is a tremendous factor in the life of the Lord's people. Heavenliness, which is spirituality, which is ascendancy, or elevation, and which is faith, is a tremendous factor. All that is gathered up in the concept of the heavenly city, Jerusalem. It means being on other ground than on the ground of this world, on the ground of the natural man. Oh, that the Church had maintained that position all the way through! What terrible tragedy have resulted from coming down to lower ground.

We will give an illustration of the tragedy of coming down from a heavenly position on the part of the Church. I found this written by Sir George Adam Smith. Speaking of the Moslem invasion of Syria, by which Syria and Israel became swept and dominated by Islam, he writes: "The Christianity of Syria fell before Islam because it was corrupt, and it deserved to fall". And again: "In an attempt by purely human means to regain her birthplace, the Church was beaten back by Islam because she was selfish and worldly."

"In neither of these cases was it a true Christianity that was overthrown, though the true Church bears to this day the reproach, and the burden of the results. The irony of the Divine judgment is clearly seen in this, that it was on the very land where a spiritual monotheism first appeared that the Church was first punished for idolatry and materialism; that it was in sight of the scenes where Christ taught and healed, and went about doing good with his band of pure devoted disciples, that the envious, treacherous, truculent hosts of the Cross were put to sword and fire. They who in His name sought a kingdom of this world by worldly means could not hope to succeed on the very fields where He had put such a temptation from Him. The victory if Islam over Christendom is no more a problem then the victory of Babylon over Israel."

That is a tremendous statement. What history there is in a statement like that! Perhaps the greatest problem today of Christianity, of the mission field, is Islam. I do not think there is a greater problem than Islam for the Church. Why? Well, Sir George Adam Smith puts his finger right on the cause when he says the power of Islam is due to the corruption of the Church at a given point in history; divided, selfish and worldly. Islam gained mastery because of that. How, then, would Islam be overthrown ? How would the mischief be undone? Surely by a heavenly Church, by that which has been wholly separated from this world in all means and methods, and united in one spirit as a great spiritual force, under the government of the Holy Spirit. That, and that alone, will overthrow the forces which have gained their position by reason of the unspirituality and unheavenliness of the Church.

If that applies to the whole, it applies to us individually, that spiritual power over any ground of the enemy demands detachment spiritually from the world, a close walk with God, and a heavenly life, a life which is above with Christ. The Lord lay upon our hearts the tremendous importance of this heavenly fellowship with Him from day to day, for the sake of spiritual power.
