The Perfect
Well here is a good topic for discussion. Or not, we may just ignore it.
The passage that Tony is referring to is I Corinthians 13:8-10, "Charity
never fails, but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail, whether
there be tongues, they shall cease, whether there be knowledge, it shall
vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that
is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away."
The misunderstanding of this passage has split the church asunder,
making the greater part ineffective and incomplete. Pastors and teachers
are spreading this schism and it is taught in the Bible Colleges. This
is one of the greatest heresies of the church in that the perfect refers
to the completed New Testament and that the sign gifts passed away in
the first century. This is the Babylonian spirit that we must overcome
in order to pull her down from her exalted position. This is actually
the best example of false doctrine that there is in the modern church.
Thank you Tony for bringing it to our attention but most in this group
already adhere to the doctrines of the five-fold ministry. Heresies must
be manifested among us so that we can recognize truth from error but
repentance is also necessary. Those that cannot put away false doctrine
so that we can come to one accord cannot be part of us, it is
unfortunate but the only way.
This is also a good time to mention that the list will be getting too
long for me to administer without a list bot. Marcia recommended to me a
list service called Topica which has an open discussion or a moderated
one. The open one will allow us to "reply all" and the moderated one
will send all back to me. I have to apologise for the gyrating tail
acting like it is going up Tony's butt. A moderated list will keep that
from happening but open discussion may be better. Either way would allow
a way for unwanted members of the group to keep from taking us off
course. Please let me know what you would prefer and I will put it
together.
