The Kingly Anointing

Pat Cocking

This month, our prayer directive takes us into the birthing of the "kingly" anointing in the Body of Christ. The kingly anointing involves the manifestation of the power and authority of Christ through the church. The Lord has impressed me concerning a spiritual assault that needs to be prayed through for the Body of Christ as the kingly anointing surfaces in manifestation. It is concerning a spirit called "leviathan". Jezebel attempted to assault the prophetic move but leviathan will attempt to thwart the kingly.

In Job 41:34, it says that leviathan is "king" over all the sons of pride. This spirit is desiring to claim the "power" for it's own glory and will seek to tempt believers into pride in order for them to ultimately give him the glory (without knowing it).

The kingly anointing of Jesus and the release of power in the Kingdom is going to be wide spread and awesome under a corporate anointing but it MUST be protected from pride.

Please pray for alertness and protection from the subtle temptations that this spirit brings. "Lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil". Please pray especially for leaders and preachers.

The following is a list of some possible temptations initiated by leviathan in regards to the kingly anointing:

  1. Condescending attitudes towards others in the Body. We are to esteem others as higher than ourselves. If we catch ourselves thinking of another as less than ourselves in any way but especially in regards to spiritual gifting, understanding, etc...we must repent quickly.....this attitude could become a landing strip for pride.

  2. Independent attitude. The Body of Christ is "one" and we are united in heart although we might all have different functions. If we ever feel "out there...just wanting to do our own thing"...while forgetting the fuller Kingdom purpose which embraces the whole...we must beware.

  3. Self glory. Although it is good for one to enjoy the workings, dealings, giftings and blessings that the hand of the Lord brings to us, we must be careful not to think that it is because of our own greatness. All things are given to us as a gift of grace (undeserved, unmerited favour) and all the worship and delight in these blessings must be returned to Him who authored them....remembering our helpless and humble estate without Him. We can never glory in our own righteousness...it is as filthy rags.

  4. Self confidence. When we begin to feel a confidence in our own abilities to produce the anointing and the fruit of the Kingdom, we must be alert to the tempter.

  5. Lack of time in His presence. Often times this is a sign that a temptation to pride has come. It indicates a possibility that we have become self sufficient and self ruled and no longer need all that we have and all that we are to flow from His Presence and Counsel. This is dangerous in that it can produce a mindset of "self rule" that subsequently asks God to bless and serve what man has initiated.

  6. Judgment and critical attitudes and thoughts. The heart of a "judge" is postured "above" others. The heart of a "saviour" is postured in servanthood.

  7. Boasting over achievements and revelation. (Often times this is not an outward action but an inward attitude)

  8. Dishonour of authority. We are to esteem and honour those in authority (even if they are NOT under Holy Spirit control....i.e. David's attitude towards Saul). Attitudes of dishonour towards leaders often indicates pride in the heart.

  9. Desiring to be served. Jesus did not come to be served but to serve. This is the posture of humility.

  10. Desire for reputation. Jesus was a man of no reputation. He emptied Himself. If we have inner desires to be esteemed by others, we need to be watchful. Pride could be lurking.

  11. Desiring to control others.

  12. Use of a position of authority or gift to fulfill selfish ambition and vision.

Bless you! PAT

With Great Expectation

Jana Alcorn

I have not forsaken you, says the Lord, but am looking upon you with expectation. I am searching your heart. For it is in this season, that your desire will come before Me. Do you want Me above all? Are you ready to take My yoke upon you, instead of the yokes of others? This is a time of release. When you are truly dead to acclamations, then I can move ahead for My utmost purpose and Glory. I am teaching you new ways, saith the Lord and you are learning new things, even a new language says the Lord. You have been in the position of predictability, now I move you beyond. Fear not to believe Me again for My will and My purpose. Flow with this press and I will come forth, says the Lord, for I have ordained you for My purposes before the foundation of the world!

Who will Release My Spirit?

Linda Patterson

Early this morning I experienced a cry from the heart of My Father.

"The Spirit of the Lord wants to be released. Who will release My Spirit? He has been contained in man made boxes, push down and stifled. Allow Me to move in fire and in power. It is the power of My resurrection that will set the captives free and My fiery passion will melt the frozen hearts.

My desire is to have a heart totally submitted to Me. My agenda for this day is signs, miracles and wonders. Who will be a sign and a wonder for me?

My fire and power cannot be found in man made tradition and religion. Fresh fire brings life, creativity and strength. Who will be a fire starter for Me? Who will allow My fresh fire to spread forth to the nations?

Shaking and sifting, wilderness walking, old wineskins to new are all part of the process for the releasers of My fire. Fiery passion can only flow through prepared and yielded vessels.

Road blocks shall be removed. Nothing shall hinder the pathway I have chosen for My fiery messengers of truth. My Spirit groans and cries out for release and so shall it be.

1 Thess. 5:19 Do not put out the Spirit's fire..

Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire.

The True Meaning Of Success

Stephen Hanson

12 May the LORD give you discretion and understanding when he puts you in command over Israel, so that you may keep the law of the LORD your God. 13 Then you will have success if you are careful to observe the decrees and laws that the LORD gave Moses for Israel. Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or discouraged. 14 "I have taken great pains to provide for the temple of the LORD a hundred thousand talents of gold, a million talents of silver, quantities of bronze and iron too great to be weighed, and wood and stone. And you may add to them. 1 Chronicles 22

2 Chronicles 26: 4 He did what was right in the eyes of the LORD, just as his father Amaziah had done. 5 He sought God during the days of Zechariah, who instructed him in the fear of God. As long as he sought the LORD, God gave him success. 6 He went to war against the Philistines and broke down the walls of Gath, Jabneh and Ashdod. He then rebuilt towns near Ashdod and elsewhere among the Philistines.

"What is the measure of a man?"

"How would you measure a man's success? Is it financial? Is it some other form of promotion? I tell you that these are earthly standards. These are the ways that man would measure success. But look beyond the framework of this earth. There are things that I have instilled in the heart of man. He would find these things if he would search for them. "

"A man's success in my eyes, is a relationship which is built upon love and trust. It is a relationship where his Spirit is joined with mine. It is a home that is filled full of love. It is a place where children can play without fear or retaliation. It is a place where my word is spoken. It is a place where forgiveness is given and received. It is a place where the young and the old embrace the arms of the aged. It is a place where those who are weak can become strong in ME. It is a place where all who come to Me are accepted and received."

"Your success must be measured by my standards. These are my standards. You cannot serve two masters. You cannot follow the course of the spirit of this age and also follow my Spirit. You will become a divided house. My Spirit will cause you to see what the measure of success is. You will go out in peace and be led there. The mountains and the hills will break forth into singing before you. Seek first my kingdom and my righteousness and then you will know the true meaning of success."

Discerning The Prophetic
by Nita Botzenmayer

In the 'mainline' church environment where I minister, the gifts of the spirit and the five-fold ministry are just beginning to be recognized as something for now, instead of something that happened historically in the Bible. The prophetic voice is being heard, and along with it, satan has reared his ugly head and brought in false prophetic voices to deceive. Some have already fallen into deception. Few know how to tell the difference between the false and the true.

To help teach the truth and expose the lies of the enemy, I sought the Lord for some basics. The mindset of many is still to depend on the pastor for teaching and application from the Word, and many simply don't have time to study in depth. Yet they need the protection of God from deception.

So I believe the Lord provided me with this brief "starter kit" on learning to accurately discern the true word of prophecy and the prophet. Perhaps it will be helpful to you to share with others "new" to the prophetic. There will be much to add, I'm sure, but we have to start somewhere!

Nita

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
DISCERNING THE PROPHETIC
In these days of increased prophetic activity, it is critically important that we be able to discern the true from the false; else we shall be deceived and misled. Many of us have received sound instruction regarding the prophetic, but to many it is a new subject. I asked the Lord for some good 'bottom line' guidelines for discernment - things that can be quickly read and applied in our lives.
Jesus said:
Matt 24:24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. (KJV)
The "if" in this passage is the Greek conditional, which is better translated "since". That means it is possible for us to be deceived! But God's guidelines in His Word, the inner witness of the Holy Spirit (John 16:13) and the gift of discernment from the Holy Spirit (1 Cor. 12:10), provide us with tools to accurate discernment.
Here are 4 "quick" guidelines from the Word to help in discerning the prophetic.
YOU SHALL KNOW THEM BY THEIR FRUIT
First are the words of Jesus:
Matt 7:15-16 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? (KJV)
Notice it is the Fruit, not the Gift, that gives discernment, for the Gifts are without repentance (Rom 11:29). The fruit of the Spirit must be evident in the life of the prophet. Primary fruit - can you feel the love of God from this person and their words? (This does not mean sinless perfection!)
BEWARE OF LABELS
There are congregations which try to recognize the gifts of their individual members and give them titles, such as "evangelist, prophet, etc.". This can be positive, as it recognizes each person as a valuable member of the Body of Christ, and encourages them to walk in their gifts and callings. However, there is a down side.
Mistakes can be made. Pride can enter in. Jealousy and strife can result, which opens the door to every evil work (James 3:16). We are to desire the higher gifts, but not be jealous of someone else who receives them. We can all prophesy (1 Cor. 14:31), but all are not prophets.
Jesus set the example of humility. The majority of the time, he called himself "the Son of Man". He refers to himself as a prophet (in small caps) only twice: (1) see Matt 13:57, Mark 6:4, Luke 4:24, and John 4:44, and (2) Luke 13:33.
The strongest warning about labels is in Revelation 2:20-23:
20 Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.
21 I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.
22 So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.
23 I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds. (NIV)
The Strong's concordance reveals the underlying meaning that this false prophet causes God's servants to stray from the truth, to get off the path.
Jezebel is a witchcraft spirit, and its prophetic insight is NOT from God. The word of knowledge, which may be true, comes from the same source as tarot card readers, palm readers, etc. - from familiar spirits (demons). Note: not all false prophets are women. This passage reveals the spirit in operation behind this particular kind of false prophet.
If you are called to walk in the office of prophet, God himself will establish you. Others will recognize the gift and authority from the Lord. Giving yourself a title, even if it's true, will not do what only God can do.
A PROPHET SUBMITS TO AUTHORITY
Prophets are willing to submit to the authority over them, and to submit their words to other prophets for discernment. Other prophetic voices will confirm a word as being from the Lord, and/or add interpretation and application to it, thereby making it more edifying for the Body, which is the purpose of the prophetic.
1 Cor 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. (KJV)
Anyone who resists submitting to other prophetic voices, or who resists, disdains, or defies authority is not a true prophet of God.
A PROPHET IS AN INTERCESSOR AND PERSON OF PRAYER
A prophetic person will spend much time in prayer. It is key to hearing and recognizing the voice of the Lord. This is another fruit to be examined in the life of a person operating in the prophetic.
EVERY biblical prophet was an intercessor. The scripture below bears witness to this conclusion, as does a quick study of the prophets in the Old Testament, beginning with Abraham.
[Jer 27:18] But if they be prophets, and if the word of the Lord be with them, let them now make intercession to the Lord of hosts that the vessels which are left in the house of the Lord, and in the house of the king of Judah, and at Jerusalem, go not to Babylon.]
This is an important characteristic of the true prophetic ministry - another fruit. This is so important to God. For those just beginning to experience giving prophetic words, this is NOT A GAME! It is an awesome responsibility to give the Word of the Lord.
The power of life & death is in the tongue, especially of a prophetic word. For words of correction, there is a BIG difference between the Conviction of the Lord, and the condemnation of the enemy.
Intercession produces the right heart toward others - God's heart. It eliminates judgment and condemnation. It produces compassion for others. It helps keep the Lord's word pure and untainted by the flesh. It helps the prophet to stay humble and prevents him from falling into pride.
Even though Jesus is seated at the right hand of the Father, highly exalted above everything, he also is still humbling himself and "ever lives to make intercession for us" (Hebrews 7:25).
There are those called to intercession who are not prophets, but all prophets bear some intercessory burden.
God does not want us to be led astray - He gives us standards in His Word to help our discernment. These are a start. The Word says we are to test the spirits to see if they be of God, and hold fast to that which is good. (I Thess 5:19-21 & I Jn 4:1)
If you are just realizing you have a prophetic call, this is also a challenge to "examine yourself before the Lord" and ask Him to help you "do it right".
Soldiers of the Cross
Nita Botzenmayer
And I say, go forth as Soldiers of the Cross and claim the land and fight for the cause for I go with you as you go. With a two-edged sword in your hand you shall possess the land, in Jesus Name. Many will say, "Well that isn't for me." Well, it had better be for you, because this is one nation under God.
From the beginning of time it was one nation under God. Where are my people? Where are my people, God says. Where are my people? Where is the fire going in my people? It is going every which way, but is not the fire that I have put in my people to win back the land, to inhabit your inheritance, which is the land?
This is your land; fight for the land. I have given you this land just like I gave it to Israel many years ago. But my children say, "Oh, but I'm fighting this war at home; I'm fighting this other war." But this war is so much greater. Pick up your arms; I have given you the spiritual weapons; I have given you the spiritual tools. Are you going to use them? Are you going to use them, I say this day?
And one of your spiritual weapons is fasting because it is in that fasting that we come to our true humility in Christ. Body, go forth and fight the battle, but humble yourselves before your God. Humble yourselves before your God so I can empower you and I can direct you and I can lead you in the intercession that I would have you to do for this great nation which I have called into existence.
Yes, I parted the Sea, many, many years ago and I brought you into this land and don't forget what it stands for. It stands for liberty and justice - My liberty, My justice, not just anyone's liberty.
My children, I call you forth today to be soldiers of the Cross and to say, "Yes, Lord. I will do it. I will stand; I will stand for you. Sign me up; sign me up in the Book of God. I will fight the cause, oh God. I will fight the cause."
I don't care who you are; just have obedience to Me. I see your hearts. You're saying to yourselves, "Well, this is not my burden." It is God's burden. It is your God's burden to take back the land. Take back the land for your God. Will you do it? Will you do it? Will you do it, I say?
Failure and Success: Paralysis From Past Mistakes
A.W. Tozer
For as the heavens are high above the earth, so great is His mercy toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.
--Psalm 103:11-12
Do not let any of the things of the world or past mistakes paralyze your hearts. I believe there are Christians who have allowed some of their past mistakes to paralyze them. You were so bright and cheerful in your spiritual life once, and then you made some tragic mistake or had something happen to you. You got out of it somehow, and prayed and wept your way out of it. But it did something to you, and now you cannot lick it. Past wrongs that have been done to you, past failures, times you thought you were going to win and did not, or present sins or discouragement-these things are not mental at all. They are deeper than that; they are subconscious, and they prevent us from believing.
I most urgently exhort you, and I trust God Almighty to deliver you; to sponge that out of your spirit; to sponge that out of your heart so you are not hindered by unbelief. Rut, Rot or Revival: The Condition of the Church, 162-163.
"Lord, I'm surely not the only one who desperately needs this reminder this morning. So many of us struggle with past sins, failures, or hurts. I pray for all of my fellow-servants who need deliverance, who need to have the past sponged out of their spirits and hearts. Amen."
