Justin Martyr

Justin Martyr was a Christian philosopher and apologist in the second century. He was a native of Neapolis, in Samaria, a great lover of truth, and a universal scholar. When Justin was about 30 years old he was converted to Christianity and for the first time perceived the real nature of truth through Platonism. He made the first serious attempt to reconcile Philosophy to the Gospel by combining St. John's Logos with the Logos of Philo and the Stoics. The celebrated philosopher fell a martyr in the persecution of Marcus Arelius.
[14, 18]
