fire

When there is a fire, true love will not say there is no fire, love warns of the fire. God's love seeks to keep men from a destiny of fire and if you know of a fire, it is your responsibility to warn your loved ones. God rained down brimstone and fire onto the wicked cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, the sign of the times in these days are compared to those cities. "And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh."

The unquenchable fire is from the Greek word asbestos, a material that would not disintegrate in the flame. Fire was a symbol of the Lord's presence and the instrument of His power, either in the way of approval or of destruction. Thus the glory of the Lord appeared in the burning bush and on Mount Sinai where the elders heard His voice out of the midst of the fire. The children of Israel were taught to roast the burnt sacrifice, an offering made with fire, the holy things however were reserved from the fire. Two hundred and fifty men were consumed by the fire of the Lord for burning incense to false gods as a sign to the children of Israel. Graven images were to be burnt with fire along with the groves of the false gods to keep you holy; stay holy and He will devour your enemies with the same consuming fire. In the midst of fire He showed himself to Isaiah, Ezekiel, and John the revelator, and will so appear at His Second Coming. In the New Testament, fire illustrates the purifying agency of the Holy Spirit and in the last days, the refiner's fire of Elijah and the baptism with fire. In the days when the latter rain spirit is being poured out, God will "show wonders in the heavens and in the earth, blood and fire and pillars of smoke." "His fury is poured out like fire."

Make no mistake, these things are upon this very hour.

Therefore, wait upon me, saith the Lord, until the day that I rise up to the prey, for my determination is to gather the nations that I may assemble the kingdoms, to pour upon them my indignation, even all my fierce anger. For all the earth shall be devoured with the fire of my jealousy. For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord to serve Him with one consent." This is what Jesus has prayed for and what we must do. "Every man's work shall be made manifest, for the day shall declare it because it shall be revealed by fire and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he has built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss but he himself shall be saved, yet so by fire.

The second coming of Jesus will be in flaming fire. "I have come to send fire upon the earth." "Every tree which brings not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire." "As the tares are gathered and burned in the fire, so shall it be in the end of this world." The beast will send fire upon the earth but it is in physical warfare, the fire that Elijah sends is the spiritual fire of rebuke. One is temporal and one is eternal. One destroys and one cleanses. If we are to be purified by fire, let us endure to the end and overcome, only then will God protect us from the destruction.

We all need to humble ourselves before the Lord to get holy, only the proud need worry; when Jesus appears, you need to greet Him with praise and honor and glory, pray that you will be able to recognize Him.

And to you who are troubled, rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ, who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of His power." "Then shall He say also them on the left hand, Depart from me, you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.. hungry, thirsty, stranger, naked, sick and in prison.. Inasmuch as you did it not to one of the least of these, you did it not to me.
Paul taught that we should do these things even unto our enemy, "for in so doing, you shall heap coals of fire on his head."

"For if we sin willfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation which shall devour the adversaries." "And if your hand offend you, cut it off; it is better for you to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched... For every one shall be salted with fire and every sacrifice shall be salted with salt." "But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men".... "But the Day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."
