Linus
Linus was the Bishop of Rome after Peter. It is not now disputed that Saint Linus was the first successor of St. Peter in the see of Rome, but practically nothing is known of him. Iranaeus identifies him with the Linus mentioned in II Tim 4.21, where Paul greets Linus (possibly written from Rome?). Implies that he was appointed Bishop before the death of Peter. Linus is named among the martyrs but there was no persecution at the time.
